After facing its first big real-world test at the 2012 Rolex 24 at Daytona, the Forgeline Aluminum Seal Plate system passed with flying colors!

Released in November 2011, the Forgeline Aluminum Seal Plate is a sealing system solution designed for three-piece racing wheels to make service and repairs faster and easier.  While most three-piece wheels create the required seal between the wheel components with wet silicone sealant from a tube, Forgeline’s aluminum seal plate kit is an aluminum plate with a rubber gasket seal around the edge that creates an airtight seal without the need for any liquid sealant. This allows for fast and reliable repairs with no leaks, no mess, and no drying time delays.

Though the Forgeline aluminum seal plate system had undergone extensive lab testing and previous real-world testing under less demanding conditions, the 2012 Rolex 24 at Daytona presented the first opportunity for the system to be used in an endurance competition where teams were truly depending upon it to deliver an on-demand seal that would allow a damaged wheel to be repaired and put immediately back into service, at the next pit stop.  Several teams took advantage of this upgrade, including the #66 Forgeline TRG Porsche 911 GT team comprised of Keating, Farnbacher, Pilet, and Simonsen. The system worked flawlessly, and the #66 team went on to earn an impressive 7th place finish (only 10 minutes out of first place).

In conjunction with any of the Forgeline Competition Series three-piece racing wheels, the Forgeline Aluminum Seal Plate is a recommended upgrade for any serious racing team.  Learn more at http://www.forgeline.com/products/accessories-finishes/seals-and-gaskets/seal-plate-upgrade-kit-with-fasteners.html.
